High Reliability Organization (HRO) Roadmap

Phase One

First Leg of the Journey – Baseline performance, Plan development, and Senior Leader buy-in

1.

Perform baseline HRO Assessment (Gap Analysis): On-site Assessment to discover performance gaps and strengths (basis to customize the approach).

2.

Develop a ‘dynamic’ Performance Improvement Plan.

3.

Develop a Change Management Plan (that includes a robust communication plan).

4.

Begin HRO Training with the Senior Leadership Team: to include an HRO overview, an HRO roadmap for culture change, and assessment findings and recommendations to include the first big win via Trigger Training®.

Phase Two

Second Leg of the Journey – Determination of Training Needs and KPIs

1.

Clearly define who will be trained, the desired timeline, and on what HRO topics based on assessment findings and recommendations (including all management personnel and workforce).

2.

Determine various training options which include live courses, blended solutions (live and video-based training: VBT), Off-The-Shelf VBT training content, semi-custom solutions, and/or full custom VBT solutions.

3.

Determine how many HRO Advocates from various departments are needed, and who will participate and build capacity through specialized HRO certification training.

4.

Develop a customized HRO Policy Manual (which defines the approach, principles, practices, roles, and responsibilities, and HRO Key Performance Indicators - KPIs).

Phase Three

Third Leg of the Journey – Organizational HRO Training Implementation and KPIs.

1.

Provide certification training for HRO Advocates that includes some specialized joint training with select management personnel.

2.

Provide training to the organization based on the plan.

3.

Develop KPIs for HRO.

Phase Four

Fourth Leg of the Journey – sustainability of HRO.

1.

Conduct Training Effectiveness Reviews to evaluate the stickiness of the HRO training.

2.

Determine any changes to the Performance Improvement and Change Management Plans based on the above.

3.

Consider an independent data analysis for the Training Effectiveness Assessment, and associated HRO KPIs.
